When El Paso County’s Sportspark re-opened in May after a lengthy and problematic renovation, the county grappled with how to balance the costs of the maintenance and upkeep and still encourage participants to utilize the newly refurbished amenities.

Wednesday, the County Commissioners approved a new fee structure that would include the elimination of all entry fees at the gate and would increase the league fees at the start of the new season. There will also be an increase in service offerings which will include year round leagues, girl’s fast pitch, adult leagues and kickball.

The Court expressed a need to increase fees to cover programming and maintenance costs, but wanted to remain competitive with market rates in the region to encourage greater use of the facility.   Monitoring of the impact these changes will have at the Sportspark will be ongoing and reported quarterly by the Public Works Department.

Chief Administrator Betsy C. Keller commented that, “This fee structure is a pay-to-play model, but with an elimination of gate fees, will encourage families and friends to come watch league and tournament play at the Sportspark.  We want to see total park usage increase year-round, and with increased service offerings this will help accomplish this.”

The new league fees will be structured as follows:

T-ball 4 & 5

$70.00 per player

T-ball 6 & 7

$80.00 per player

7 & 8 Coach Pitch
