UPDATE: Information obtained by KTSM indicates that the body found Friday, May 19, 2023, near the Doña Ana Community College is that of a woman between 20-30 years of age, according to the Sunland Park Police Department.
Preliminary investigation details say the body had been on the scene for approximately five days said the Office of Medical Investigator (OMI). The woman had a Mexican ID card but due to the decomposition of the body, officials were unable to positively ID the victim.
According to SPPD, the cause of death is still unknown, and the completion of the autopsy/investigation is still pending. Authorities are working with their Mexican counterparts to identify the deceased.
ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM)- A body was found Friday, May 19 behind the Doña Ana Community College located at McNutt Rd. in Sunland Park, according to the Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart.
Stewart says the Sunland Park Police Department is handling the investigation and the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office (DASO) has not been requested.
