The holidays are a time for family — and Animal Services wants to help keep all members together.
As part of its Home for the Holidays Pet Reclaim Initiative, the City-run shelter will waive all pet reclaim fees from Dec. 1 to Jan. 6.
According to a news release, the effort aims to help lost pets return to their families by eliminating the worry of reclaim fees during the busy holiday season.
Shelter officials emphasize that only fees associated with a pet reclaim will be waived. For any unregistered or unlicensed pet, Animal Services will charge a registration fee of $12.50.
The initiative will also not waive the following fees: registration, adoption, owner surrender, owner-requested euthanasia, disposal, bite quarantines, and repeat offenders.
According to shelter officials, families looking for lost pets are encouraged to bring their animals’ veterinarian records to confirm ownership and provide background information.
