Americas duo signs to play college baseball; Chapin star headed to Grand Canyon

News

Two Americas High School baseball players signed letters of intent to play in college on Thursday.

Shortstop Darell Hernaiz signed with Texas Tech and second baseman Erick Martinez signed with New Mexico Junior College.

Hernaiz is also expected to be taken in the first 10 rounds of the 2019 MLB Draft, so he could choose to turn pro instead of heading to Lubbock.

Meanwhile at Chapin, softball star Kristin Fifield inked a letter of intent with Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
