Las Cruces fire, police, and code enforcement officers confiscated thousands in illegal fireworks during a 16-day period, according to a news release.
Police say that from June 20 through July 6, an estimated $2,000 in illegal fireworks were seized, which includes aerial spinners, helicopters, rockets, and others.
156 fireworks-related calls were also reported, 129 of which were received between July 1-4.
According to police, there were five brush fires, two dumpster fires, and two tree fires that may have been caused by fireworks.
