UPDATE: An El Paso woman died Tuesday night after she reportedly failed to negotiate a curve at an overpass in South Central El Paso, according to El Paso Police.
Police say Ruby Elena Aranda, 21, was traveling in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado at a high rate of speed at the 200 block of N. Piedras.
Police say Aranda was unable to negotiate a curve at the overpass, and the vehicle went over the overpass and landed on a dirt lot at the intersection of Durazno and Piedras.
Aranda died from her injuries that were sustained during the collision.
Police say the main contributing factor of this fatality is speed.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was killed in a single vehicle crash late Tuesday night, Aug. 8, El Paso Police said.
The crash happened shortly before midnight along the 300 block of North Piedras.
Special Traffic Investigations, which looks into serious and fatal crashes, was called out to the scene.
