UPDATE: Sheriff’s office identifies suspect and victim in fatal Socorro shooting


EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identified Neftali Maymi Martinez as the suspect in a fatal shooting in Socorro on Wednesday night.

Martinez is accused of fatally shooting Daniel Almanzar at the Coconuts Wing Cantina on North Loop Drive. He was charged with murder on a $1 million bond with an added aggravated assault charge that includes a $100,000 bond.

A shooting also left someone injured. EPCSO has not identified the injured individual.

EPCSO said Socorro police arrived on the scene and found that two men had wounds due to gunfire that happened inside the bar. One of the men died at the scene and the other was transported to a local area hospital.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
