Two New Mexico State Police officers are out of the hospital after they were hit by a passing driver during a crash investigation in Las Cruces.

As KTSM previously reported, the wreck happened Saturday evening on US-70 near Weisner Road.

According to a news release, officers Jesus Rodriguez and Manuel Veloz were investigating a crash involving a semi-truck when a driver, a 70-year-old Cloudcroft woman, hit them.

The impact pushed the patrol unit into Veloz, who was then knocked to the ground.

Both officers were taken to the hospital to treat their non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.

According to the release, the driver was cited for careless driving following the incident.

Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and that there was no evidence the driver was impaired or on her phone.

The New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit will continue to investigate.
