Las Cruces middle school went on lockdown following social media threat

UPDATE: LCPS posted the following message on Facebook: “The lockdown at Sierra Middle School has been lifted and the school is now in a modified shelter-in-place. Booker T. Washington Elementary was briefly in shelter-in-place due to the school’s proximity to Sierra, but that has since been lifted.”

A release from the school district said the individuals responsible were identified and the Las Cruces Police Department is on the case. 

ORIGINAL: Sierra Middle School in Las Cruces is under lockdown following a threat that was made on social media.

The Las Cruces Public Schools put information about the lockdown on its Facebook page.

It added that the students are safe and police are on scene.
