Police arrested a Las Cruces man last week for allegedly inappropriately touching a teenage girl.
According to a news release, Damien Guynes, 23, was drinking alcohol at a Las Cruces home early Friday morning before he allegedly entered the victim’s room and climbed into bed with her.
Police say Guynes then touched her illegally. The girl later told investigators that she was scared and pretended to be asleep.
According to the release, the victim reported the incident to a school counselor the next morning, prompting an investigation by police and the state’s Children, Youth and Families Department.
During an interview, Guynes later confirmed the girl’s account and said he left the room once he realized what he was doing.
Guynes was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center Friday evening and has since been released on bond.
