Las Cruces City Manager Stuart Ed resigns

Las Cruces City Manager Stuart Ed has resigned, effective immediately.

Ed, who has been city manager since November 2016, stepped down two months after being given an extension. 

The Las Cruces City Council is expected to have a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to consider naming Assistant City Manager William Studer as the acting city manager. 

The council will also consider a nationwide search for Ed’s replacement.

Studer, who is a former assistant city manager in El Paso, began working in Las Cruces in April 2017. He has 38 years of experience.
