Motorcyclist hit by truck in East El Paso, suffers life-threatening injuries


EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit continue to investigate a Monday night crash near the intersection of Hawkins and Gateway Boulevard East.

The wreck happened shortly after 9 p.m., when a 2008 Honda motorcycle driven by 25-year-old Marco Antonio Marin was struck by a 2011 Chevy Silverado driven by 54-year-old Arnoldo Morales.

The preliminary investigation revealed Morales was northbound on Tony Lama street, approaching the intersection of Hawkins Boulevard, while at the same time, Marin was southbound on Tony Lama. Morales made a left turn in front of the motorcycle when the crash occurred.

EPPD Special Traffic Investigation Unit

Officials say that Marin was taken to University Medical Center by Fire Medical services with life-threatening injures. They add that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

According to the EPPD investigation, failure to yield the right of way on the part of Morales is a contributing factor in this crash.; they add that the investigation is ongoing
