Police have identified the woman killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso Wednesday evening as Maria Elena Rico, 47.

According to a news release, the wreck happened at about 7:30 p.m. on US-54 South near the Ellerthorpe exit.

Police say Rico veered into the path of an semi-truck before crashing into a pickup truck.

She died at the scene.

According to the release, the passengers inside the car, a 10-month-old infant and 31-year-old woman, were both taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

This is the 67th traffic death of 2018, compared to 52 at the same time last year.
