Where to recycle your Christmas trees in El Paso, Las Cruces

With Christmas 2018 now in the rearview mirror, you may be wondering what to do with your trees.

El Paso and Las Cruces are both hosting free tree-recycling services.

The trees will be re-purposed into composted mulch that can be used for plants, weed control, dust control, and more.

In both cities, participating residents must remove all ornaments, lights, and other decorations. Trees with flocking decorations cannot be recycled.

El Paso

Beginning December 26, the following Citizen Collection Stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • 1034 Pendale (East)
  • 121 Atlantic (West)
  • 4501 Hondo Pass (Northeast)
  • 2492 Harrison (Central)

Las Cruces

Beginning December 29, the Old Foothills Landfill (555 S. Sonoma Ranch) will be available for tree recycling at the following times:

  • Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • After hours and on Sundays, a roll-off container will be available outside the gate
