Website is campaigning for Beto in 2020, he’s just not a part of it

El Paso News

“We believe Beto O’Rourke should be the next President of the United States,” is the first thing you see on the Draft Beto 2020 website.

The new push is from a group of New England Democrats who have formed a political action committed (PAC). It’s members believe O’Rourke has the best chance of winning against President Donald Trump in 2020.

“Democrats win when we remind people what we stand for: fairness, inclusivity, and bold, progressive solutions to the challenges we all face,” the About Us section of the website reads. “We believe the candidate best-suited to run such a campaign – and win back the White House – is Beto O’Rourke.”

According to CNN, the committee has said O’Rourke is not involved in the website or campaign and the PAC is not filed with FEC, but it plans to do so before the deadline at the end of this year.

There is also another PAC called “DRAFT BETO,” which is not affliated with “Draft Beto 2020,” CNN reports.

Prior to losing the U.S. Senate race to Ted Cruz in November, O’Rourke had told multiple media outlets that he was not planning on running for president in 2020. However, at a recent town hall in El Paso, he gave an open ended answer and said “we’re not ruling anything out.”
