A taste of winter is coming.
A storm system is moving in our direction, with an associated cold front.
This will do two things: Bring strong winds and drop our afternoon highs below average, which is 56 degrees.
Winds will come from the SW 15-20 mph with gusts from 25-30 mph. While this is all below wind advisory level winds, they will be strong enough to move your outdoor holiday decorations around.
The timing of the storm system’s impact will be from Christmas Night into Wednesday.
The afternoon highs will also drop quite a bit. Going from the low 70s Christmas day to the low 50s Wednesday afternoon.
Much of the Borderland area will be impacted, so make sure to tie down your holiday decorations, trash bins and make sure you have your winter clothes ready to go.
Looking into Saturday, highs will top out in the 40s and stay that way through the weekend.
A KTSM 9 News Weather Authority Alert is issued whenever a severe weather event is expected which could disrupt and impact Borderland residents. Details on how to take action, timing of the weather event and the areas affected will be provided every time an alert is issued.
