Wanted sex offender captured in South Texas

A wanted sex offender who walked away from the Horizon Boulevard halfway house in March was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in South Texas. 

Roberto Luna left the halfway house on March 19, 2019. He was completing a sentence for Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault of a 12-year-old girl. 

El Paso County Sheriff’s Department officials say Luna was captured in Cameron County, in the Harlingen/Brownsville area on Thursday, May 9. He was booked into the Cameron County Detention Center where he is behind held on a probation violation for Sex Offenders Duty to Register.
