On the brunch menu Sunday, voters got to know some El Paso candidates at a forum in Central El Paso.
Women’s March El Paso hosted the event at Five Points Bistro on Montana. The group wants voters especially women paying attention to the political issues at every level.
“We’re all paying attention to what’s going on in the federal level. What really important as well is what’s happening here at the local level. So we wanted to have a forum on the municipal races that are happening here at home,” said Elisa Morales. She is a member of Women’s March El Paso.
The forum featured some candidates for city council and commissioner’s court.
Voters say its great to have organizations provide these forums for the public.
“The organizations have been wanting to have a seat at the table and so folks like these, The Women’s March of El Paso, they’ve taken a nice opportunity to take advantage of the enthusiasm for political activism right now,” said El Paso voter Xavier Miranda.
The candidates answered questions from a panel of moderators. They also answered some questions from the audience.
