U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar calls for investigation into border militia

El Paso News

El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar is now calling for an investigation into the armed-militia group that has been patrolling the desert near Sunland Park and detaining migrants.

As KTSM reported, the group United Constitutional Patriots has been camped near the U.S.-Mexico border in Anapra. A recent viral video shows the group armed and arresting a group of migrants.

In a Tweet by Escobar, she says, “Armed militias are not only engaging in unlawful conduct, they are stripping migrants from their due process and dignity.”

She goes on to say her and both New Mexico Representatives Deb Haaland and Ben Ray Lujan are calling on the FBI to launch an investigation into the incident.
