TxDot plans several major road closures beginning in April

You might want to take a closer look at the updated traffic flow around the Sunland Park and I-10 interchange beginning late next month.

The overpass that drivers use to travel north or south across I-10 on Sunland Park will be closed beginning April 30.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured onto the newly constructed turnaround bridge that is directly parallel to the existing overpass. Traffic will be reduced to two northbound lanes and one southbound lanes.

According to TxDot, the bridge closure is necessary while crews demolish the old bridge and replace it with a new structure. The new overpass will have an increased height clearance and additional lanes.

The closure is expected to last at least five months.

TxDot construction crews will close Executive Center between Paisano to Rio Bravo for two consecutive weekends in April. Drivers should be aware of the closure and make alternate travel plans.

The closures are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 7 and end Monday, April 9 and 5 a.m. The second closure is scheduled for the same time frame April 14-16.

During the closure, all east and westbound lanes will be closed along with associated ramps to and from I-10.

Crews will be working to mill and repave the stretch of road and will also be installing high mast lighting.

The Diana Drive underpass in Northeast El Paso at US 54 is scheduled to close for at least ten weeks beginning May 7 at 7 a.m. TxDot crews will be widening the bridge at the intersection.

The work is part of the US 54 Widening and Illumination Project. Drivers should follow detours and expect a temporary U-turn at Hondo Pass for better access.
