Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso has seen a record enrollment this year.

Officials say 607 students have registered for the fall semester. According to officials that’s an increase of 10.5 percent from the fall semester in 2015 when 549 students enrolled.

We spoke to a medical student who told us what makes Texas Tech El Paso attractive to students.

“When I was looking at different medical schools this was the only one that required medical spanish and the cultural immersion and those sort of programs and I think that  offers a u nique advantage to the medical students here because after our four years here we will not only be able to be great doctors but we’ll be able to be cultural aware doctors”, said Kyle Webster, medical student at TTUHSC.

This semester also marks the first time that all of the Texas Tech academic programs are offered in El Paso.
