Tiguas face another legal setback in Casino case

El Paso News

The state of Texas is still pushing to remove gaming machines from Speaking Rock Entertainment Center.

The move comes after the Tigua Tribe filed a motion for a federal judge to reconsider a recent ruling in the state’s favor. Last month, Judge Philip Martinez ruled the State of Texas has a legal right to enforce state gaming laws on tribal land, something the Tiguas dispute.

A trial scheduled for this month was scrapped and both sides were ordered to submit drafts for a proposed permanent injunction.
