Three New Mexico residents arrested in El Paso on drug possession, paraphernalia charges

Three New Mexico residents are behind bars on drug-related charges following a traffic stop in East El Paso Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release, officers conducted the traffic stop at about noon near the Motel 6 located at 6363 Montana.

Police discovered that the car’s occupants — Lexus Hammett, 27, Brian Najar, 47, and Brytani Kupcak, 24 — were in possession of various drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Officials say Hammett, a resident of Carlsbad, had 64.5 grams of heroin in his front pocket while Najar, also of Carlsbad, was in possession of 2.8 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the release, Kupcak was also in possession of two syringes that contained heroin residue.

The suspects were booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

  • Hammett: Possession of Controlled Substance – Heroin >4grams<200 grams ($100,000 bond)
  • Najar: Possession of Controlled Substance – Meth >1gram <4grams ($30,000 bond)
  • Kupcak: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (No bond listed)
