Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently slammed sanctuary cities on Twitter Tuesday in response to the slaying of an Iowa student.

The body of Mollie Tibbetts, 20, was discovered Tuesday after she went missing on July 18, according to the CNN article that Abbott shares in his tweet.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a 24-year-old undocumented immigrant, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Abbott shared the CNN article on Twitter and said “An undocumented immigrant is charged for murder of Mollie Tibbetts, the Iowa college student who went missing on July 18. This is why so many Americans are angry about sanctuary cities. It’s why Texas banned sanctuary cities. It’s about safety. #tcot

His tweet has been retweeted more than 6,300 times and liked more than 13,000 times.
