El Paso Police say images of an underage girl posted on social media led to the arrest of an 18-year-old girl Monday.

Luz Paola Aranda, 18, is facing five counts each of Possession of Child Pornography and Promotion of Child Pornography.

According to police, the investigation began when detectives with EPPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit were notified of nude images of an underage girl being posted on Facebook and Instagram accounts allegedly belonging to Aranda.

Police allege Aranda obtained the photos and posted them online with the message “who wants to see free nudes.”

After the initial post, police say she created new accounts and reposted the photos after the social media platform closed the initial accounts.

Detectives with EPPD remind the public that viewing, possessing, re-posting or sharing questionable images can lead to serious charges.

Aranda is being held in the El Paso County Detention Center on bonds totaling $750,000.
