SWAT standoff in East El Paso

UPDATE: The man walked out of the house at 10:55 and is now in police custody. He was charged with aggravated assault.

There was a SWAT situation in East El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department. 

Police responded to a family violence call that came in around 7:30 p.m. Multiple units showed up and blocked roads in the area starting with W.H. Burges and Apple Lane where a man was armed with a gun then proceeded to barricade himself inside a home on Dempsey Avenue.There are no reported injuries. Police told KTSM he was the only one inside the home.

“Crisis management team officers are trying to convince him to step out of the house and surrender himself. SWAT team is also at the location and standing by,” EPPD Spokesperson Enrique Carillo said.

Law enforcement units are entering and exiting the area.
