Services set for mother killed in Tippin Elementary parking lot accident

Funeral services for Kharisma James, the mother killed in an accident in the Tippin Elementary School parking lot, have been set.

As KTSM previously reported, James, 33, was killed after being hit by a vehicle driven by Roger Hawking, 58, Monday afternoon at the West El Paso school.

Her two children, a 6-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy, were injured in the accident. Athindra Satish Kumar, 10, was also struck by the vehicle, and is recovering in the hospital.

James’ funeral and burial are scheduled for Monday, August 20. The community is invited to attend.

A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Abundant Living Faith Center located at 7100 North Desert Blvd. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m.

James will be buried at 2 p.m. at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery located at 5200 Fred Wilson.

James was an Army veteran and nurse who graduated from El Paso Community College and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

After leaving the Army, she began studying at EPCC and was accepted into the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
