A water main that crosses I-10 near Downtown has been compromised following a fiery semi-truck crash Thursday afternoon, according to El Paso Water.
The pipe is leaking due to the crash, prompting crews to close off water on both sides of the pipe and freeway.
Downtown residents aren’t expected to be affected, but those who live north of Montana in between Prospect and Campbell will experience low water pressure.
The amount of time it will take for the line to be fixed is currently unknown.
I-10 West at Missouri is in complete gridlock after a semi-truck careened off the interstate and up the highway’s embankment.
Witnesses tell KTSM that the truck driver appeared to lose control. The cab of the truck looks heavily damaged with the trailer also suffering accordion-like damage.
TXDOT cameras showed the cab of the truck in flames. Witnesses believe the driver was able to escape but that has not been confirmed by first responders.
Traffic is being forced to exit at I-10 West and Cotton.
It is not known what the structural integrity of I-10 at the Missouri overpass might be.
Stay with KTSM as we expect to update this story throughout the afternoon.
