A month after the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in the Lower Valley, El Paso Police released the mugshot of the two teenage suspects in the case.
Ashley Galloway, 19, and Jerrica Arredondo, 18, are each charged with Capital Murder in the shooting death of Carlos Calderon.
The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31 in an apartment complex in the 8500 block of Alameda.
Responding officers found Calderon suffering from gunshot wounds on the staircase of the complex. He was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he later died.
As we previously reported, the two teens allegedly set up a drug deal with the victim and planned to rob him. The plans didn’t “go like it was supposed to,” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KTSM.
A witness reported hearing gunshots inside the apartment before seeing Galloway shooting Calderon as he was running away, according to court paperwork.
Police say they found Galloway and Arredondo shortly thereafter in a nearby trailer park where they were attempting to hide. Both were then taken into custody.
During an interview with investigators, the teens later confessed to plotting the aggravated robbery, and admitted to fatally shooting Calderon after it didn’t go as planned.
As KTSM reported in November 2017, Arredondo was previously arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman with a blunt object during a large brawl near Fox Plaza.
She served 17 days in jail for the alleged offense, according to jail records.
Arredondo and Galloway are both being held on Capital Murder charges at the El Paso County Detention Center without bond.
