Police charge Fort Bliss man with cruelty to animals

A 22-year-old Fort Bliss man was charged with Cruelty to Animals and booked into the El Paso County Detention Center Monday, according to police.

James Taylor Norris, was the target of an investigation by the El Paso Police Department’s Animal Cruelty Unit. According to police, the investigation began on Feb. 26, when Norris allegedly tortured a 2-year-old female Husky.

Police allege that Norris threw the dog to the ground and beat her aggressively.

Norris was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on one count of cruelty to non-livestock animals (by torture). He posted a $7,500 surety bond and was released Tuesday morning according to court records.
