Pedestrian killed in Lower Valley after stumbling onto the roadway

A 52-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Thursday night in the Lower Valley after he stumbled onto the roadway, police said.

Juan Jose Escajeda was walking north on the 500 block of Pendale when he was hit by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by Jose Luis Morales, 34, a news release from police said.

Police said Escajeda was walking along the curb and for an unknown reason stumbled onto the road in the path of the truck, police said.

He was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he died from his injuries, police said.
