O’Rourke to Trump Border Wall: Racist

El Paso News

President Trump signing two executive orders initiating a series of actions to curb illegal immigration. One, to begin construction of the wall and add more border patrol and ICE Agents, and establish an office to assist American families who are the victims of crimes carried out by undocumented immigrants.

Congressman Beto O’Rourke was quick to respond to the news by saying Mexico is not a threat, he says now is the time for people to stand up and put an end to the border wall.

O’Rourke’s question to President Trump, “Mr. President, what are you afraid of? What are you trying to solve by spending billions more constructing wall, antagonizing our closest neighbor?”. O’Rourke goes on to say El Paso is one of the safest cities in the country and it’s not in spite of the fact that we’re connected to Mexico but in large part because we’re connected to Mexico.

The congressman says one out of four jobs is dependent on trade with Mexico, if the wall is built thousands of people would lose their jobs. Instead, O’Rourke says the U.S. should invest in the relationship with Mexico. He says building a wall is a racist act and years from now people will be ashamed if it’s completed.
