Name of motorcyclist killed in East El Paso crash released

The name of the motorcyclist who died in Monday’s East El Paso crash has been released by the El Paso Police Department.

Javier Rangel, 48, died after his Harley Davidson crashed at about 6:35 p.m. on April 1 in the 4500 block of Rich Beem.

Police said the motorcycle was going north on Rich Beem when it hit the center raised median and lost control. The motorcycle hit a tree and Rangel was “separated” from the motorcycle.

Rangel had severe injuries and was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he died, police said.

Police said Rangel was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. the Special Traffic Investigations unit is still investigating the deadly collision.
