Name of man killed at El Paso Police station shooting released

El Paso News

The name of the man who was killed Wednesday at the Pebble Hill Regional Command Center has been released by police.

The El Paso Police Department identified Richard Palafox, 76, as the man who was killed in the parking lot of the police station.

On Wednesday, police said Palafox was in the parking lot with a gun. When officers engaged him, shots were fired.

Police had also called him a suicidal subject.

Three officers fired their guns during the incident. They have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard in officer-related shootings.

Because the incident is an ongoing investigation, police said they will not release any more information at this time.

However, on Wednesday KTSM learned that police rushed to a home just a few miles away where the suspect lived.

Investigators were at a house on John Cox Place, near Pebble Hills and Saul Kleinfeld.

Neighbors didn’t want to speak on camera, but said a couple lived in the home for about 20 years and had a long history of fighting.

The man also allegedly had issues with others living in the area, neighbors told KTSM.
