Juarez officials and family of iconic Mexican singer Juan Gabriel announced his memorial service plans at a press conference held in Juarez Thursday morning.
Juan Gabriel’s ashes will arrive in El Paso at the El Paso International Airport Saturday, September 3rd.
They will then be driven across the Stanton Bridge in Downtown El Paso and taken to Juan Gabriel’s home on Avenida 16 de Septiembre and Peru in Juarez.
Juan Gabriel’s ashes are expected to arrive at approximately 6:30 p.m. The bishop of Juarez will offer a mass outside the home where family will gather in the garden to dedicate the ashes. The public is invited to the mass which will start at 8:00 p.m.
According to the Governor of Chihuahua Cesar Duarte, the family will hold a private mass inside the home after the public mass.
After the mass, a celebration of Juan Gabriel’s life will be held outside the home which will include a concert with various artists including Sonora Santanera.
Juan Gabriel’s representative Jesus Salas says the family has decided to keep the singer’s ashes at his home in Ciudad Juarez, where they will be kept on top of the main chimney.
Juarez officials have confirmed that they plan to make Juan Gabriel’s home a museum in the near future.
