Memorial Day rollover crash claims fourth victim

El Paso News

Genesis Soto, the wife of former Chapin High School standout athlete Cliff Tucker, has died. Soto was a passenger in a Ford passenger van involved in a rollover crash on Memorial Day on I-10 West near Balmorhea.

Tucker, along with Andrew and Amanda Akaji were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  DPS investigators say a tire blowout caused the van they were passengers in to roll. Soto and her 3-year-old daughter, Drianna, were both hospitalized with life threatening injuries.

Friday, Texas DPS confirmed Soto died as a result of her injuries, nearly a month after the Memorial Day crash.

According to Fort Bliss, all passengers involved in the crash were associated with the Fort Bliss Knights basketball team.

DPS Troopers have not given an update on Drianna Soto’s condition. Funeral services for Genesis Soto have not been announced.
