Man killed by train in Socorro identified

The man who was struck and killed by a train Tuesday in Socorro has been identified by City of Socorro and Union Pacific Police.

Israel Ornelas Garcia, 52, died after he was hit by a train at about 2:46 p.m. near Nevarez and Moon. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been notified. 

The reason he was on the tracks has not been released and the case is still under investigation, officials said in a news release.
