Man hit by train in Socorro

A man was struck by a train Tuesday afternoon in Socorro, city officials said.

The City of Socorro reported they received 911 calls at about 2:46 p.m. 

The man, believed to be in his 50’s, is not responsive, a city release said. Police have the roads of Nevarez and Moon closed as they and Union Pacific Police investigate the collision.

The public is asked to use Rio Vista Road or Horizon Boulevard as detours. 

More information on the man or why he was near the train tracks has not been released. KTSM will update this story if more details become available.
