Man dies in East El Paso crash involving semi-truck

UPDATE

A man is dead following a crash in East El Paso early Friday morning.

Police say the driver, a man in his early 20s, was traveling at high speeds on the 10700 block of Gateway West when he hit a semi-truck.

According to a news release, the man continued past the trailer and finally came to a stop about 400 feet away.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released. Stay with KTSM.com for updates.

ORIGINAL: Traffic is closed on Gateway West between Lomaland Drive and N Yarbrough Drive due to a serious crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle that happened at 3:53 a.m. on Gateway West at Barranca Dr. near the Coca-Cola Vending warehouse.

Police say the Gateway will be closed for several hours while Special Traffic Investigators process the scene.

Motorists who need to access I-10 will need to do so via the Yarbrough Dr. westbound ramp.
