Male student killed in pedestrian accident

A male student is dead following a pedestrian crash in Northeast El Paso.

El Paso Police responded to a call of a life-threatening pedestrian crash around 11 a.m. on Loop 375 near Minuteman.

The Ysleta Independent School District sent out a robocall alerting parents about a student death around 12:30 p.m.  According to that robocall, grief counselors will be available at the school.

A press conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon at Parkland Middle School.

The accident happened around the same time several area schools had student walk outs in connection with the national commemoration of the Columbine school shooting. Officials have not confirmed if the student was participating in a walk out.
