Lupe Valdez visit to the Borderland over weekend

El Paso News

Democratic candidate for Texas Governor Lupe Valdez was in El Paso last Sunday.

Former Dallas County Sheriff Valdez attended a dance fundraiser for the El Paso County Democratic Party on Sunday.

Valdez is the first Latina nominee for governor of Texas. She says people need to go out and vote for those who can make an impact in the community.

“A lot of our current politicians are more interested in lining the pocketbook of their rich friends when they should be caring about the public. And we’ll continue to go back if you don’t vote, the same thing will happen all over again,” Valdez shared.

Valdez is running against Republican Governor Greg Abbott. The two are set to debate in September.
