As Eastwood High School goes through a major bond-funded transformation, local non-profit the Deby Lewis Foundation are offering a long term connection to the updated campus.
For $100, the foundation is offering special name engraved bricks. If you place an order they will add your special brick to a walkway that will be placed somewhere on the finished, fully renovated campus.
All of the profits will go towards scholarships for future students. The Deby Lewis Foundation’s goal is to sell 3,000 bricks.
“We’ve had so many people come through this school and walk the old hallways and we’re going to have so many people walk the new hallways. I think it’s important to have some of the old tradition and the old alumni part of the new building,” Eastwood senior Sonnie Acosta said.
The foundation was created in memory of former Eastwood teacher and Ysleta Independent School District board member Deby Lewis. She passed away due to brain cancer in 2015.
Eastwood High School is receiving more than $96 million in additions from the historic 2015 YISD bond. Construction on the projects is expected to be completed in Fall 2019.
To order one of the special bricks visit the foundation’s website: http://www.debylewisfoundation.org. The deadline to order is June 1.
