KTSM Staff Celebrates Nexstar Founder’s Day

El Paso News

KTSM NewsChannel 9 celebrated Founder’s Day on Friday. The nationwide initiative is tied to our parent company, Nexstar Media Group, to go out into our community and give back.

You’ll see a lot of employees from KTSM at the Salvation Army or at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. We’re all donating more than four hours of our time to show appreciation for our community.

“This is really wonderful. We can get so much more work done with the volunteers. Generally, the last time we had a group here it wasn’t near this size. Just with the work they do counted for 1,400 meals and that’s just 4 hours of work,” Mike Kent with the Salvation Army said.

Volunteers at the food bank separated and boxed food, while Salvation Army volunteers separated clothing, moved furniture, priced items and cleaned the inside of their retail store located on Morehead in Central El Paso.

KTSM employees will continue celebrating Founder’s Day throughout the weekend by volunteering at other locations around the community.
