Storms are headed into the borderland in the next few hours and should stick around until the weekend.

Officials say that drivers should be smart while out on the streets during storms.
According to officials with El Paso Water Utilities you will see streets carrying water because they work as conduits to take water to the different channels around the borderland.
Officials want to stress the number one thing you can do to stay safe if you see several inches of  water in the street is turn around, don’t drown.

“Mother nature can always build a bigger storm we’ve done what we can to reduce flooding  but it’s important for people to remember that if they do see several inches of water do not try to drive through it, at night especially”, said Christina Montoya, Vice President-Marketing and Communication at EPWU.

Officials also want to remind you to never try going around barricades because they are there for a reason.
