House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will travel to El Paso next week to speak with El Pasoans about President Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policies.
Pelosi will visit with non-profit leaders, immigrant attorneys and DREAMers at the request of former County Judge Veronica Escobar.
The goal of the meeting is to understand the impact of these policies on immigrant families and to consider solutions for fixing our broken immigration system and keeping families together.
Escobar is running for the Democratic House seat left open by Rep. Beto O’Rourke who is running for Senator of Texas.
Pelosi is the highest ranking member of the House Democratic Leadership. The meeting will take place Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 9 a.m. at Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services, 2400 East Yandell.
