Suspect in Lower Valley SWAT situation taken into custody

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The man suspected of threatening officers with a knife and barricading himself inside a Lower Valley home Friday night for nearly 11 hours was taken into custody around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, according to El Paso Police. The suspect was taken to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment.

Additional details will be released by police as soon as the suspect is formally charged.

EARLIER: The El Paso Police Department’s SWAT team is responding to a person who barricaded themselves at a home in the Lower Valley.

Authorities said it’s happening on the 7800 block of Broadway near Bernadine Ave.

EPPD has not said what led to the incident.
