Since the Tippin Elementary incident, GoFundMe pages have been posted helping raise funds for the two families affected.
One of those accounts is earmarked for the Holland children, the children of victim Kharisma James. It’s raised more than $46,000 collected from more than 900 people.
There’s also a second account for 10 year old Athindra Kumar. That one’s raised $13,000 so far.
Now a third page, raising money for the funeral of Kharisma James. We asked the Better Business Bureau for some tips for those looking to donate.
“We always ask consumers to do their homework and to investigate before giving any donation,” Karla Garcia from BBB shared.
Garcia with the Better Business Bureau says ‘GoFundMe’ is what they refer to as an accredited business.
“The website is an accredited business and if they ever receive a complaint, they have obligation to resolve it, the good faith to answer these complaints,” Garcia said.
One of the mom’s overseeing the Holland Kids’ account assures the money is directly to the children. If you’d like to donate, but would rather do it in person, the Tippin PTA is hosting a fundraiser for both families tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tippin Elementary.
