Condolences for El Paso Fire Department Captain Alejandro ‘Alex’ Gallardo who died days after a motorcycle crash Sunday have been coming in from across the country.
A GoFundMe account was established to help Gallardo’s three sons with expenses following his death. Within 23 hours, the fund has exceeded it’s $1,000 goal and topped $3,500 raised for Capt. Gallardo’s family.
“A terrible loss, Alex will be missed by any and all who have come in contact with him,” Ed Lowe wrote.

Former El Paso Fire Chief Samuel Pena, who now leads the Houston Fire Department, also tweeted his condolences.

Gallardo was riding a motorcycle along Vista Del Sol in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 5, when he struck a curb and was thrown from the bike. He was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with severe head trauma and died late Tuesday night.
The flags at Fire Station 19 on McRae, where Capt. Gallardo served, lowered their flags to half-staff Wednesday.
Funeral arrangements for Gallardo have not yet been announced.
