El Paso Fire Department responded to two fires within a block of each other Tuesday afternoon.

The first call came out around 3:45 to the 3400 block of Mountain Ave. when neighbors and EPPD patrols saw smoke coming from a vacant home and called 911.

About 45 minutes later, a second call came in to the 3400 block of McKinley, just a block north of the other house fire when firefighters and neighbors saw smoke coming from that area. When crews arrived, they found flames coming from the side of the house.

EPFD says the second home was also vacant. The fire caused an estimated $35,000 in damage to the home on Mountain and $50,000 in damages to the home on McKinley.

The cause of the fires is still under investigation by El Paso Fire Department.
