A celebration of life was held for the 16-year-old Gadsden HS baseball player who was hit and killed outside his home last Wednesday.
Adalberto “Beto” Romero was killed when 21-year-old Oscar Anchondo allegedly ran him over as he was getting into his car to go to school at Aero Lane and Pico, according to the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.
Romero’s funeral services were held at La Paz Funeral Home in Las Cruces on Wednesday.
Gadsden HS students and faculty joined family and friends at the service. It was followed by a police escort with the procession leading to the cemetery, where dozens wore the Gadsden’s school colors and balloons were released.
Anchondo was granted $5K bond on the day of the funeral.
